ZED ZONE Update Roadmap and Patch Notes
ZED ZONE patch notes and roadmap: what 1.0 shipped, what 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 fixed, the 1.0.8 timeline, and which roadmap features are still ahead.
ZED ZONE left Early Access on 5 November 2026 after roughly three years of patches. The 1.0 build is not the end of development; the developer has continued with hotfixes and has a roadmap that predates launch. This page separates what is actually in the game from what is still planned.

Treat every stat table as a snapshot. If a recipe or damage number looks wrong after a patch, check the in-game tooltip before you rebuild a character around it.
The 1.0 launch
The launch build added the largest content drop in the game's history:
- Far Island, a second island reached by repairing a boat. The cabin storage travels with you, and you can return to the main island at any time.
- Ten new areas, including a port, an RNA lab, a mall, an armoury, an automated factory, a nuclear plant, an old airport, and a military camp.
- The island railway, with station calls, a route map, storage on the train, and power restored section by section as you defeat Area Guardians.
- Area 61, the final region, with a surface facility, an underground section, a three-phase boss, and a submarine escape ending.
- Radiation storms around the nuclear plant, with masks, cloaks, tablets, and a backup cooling system that weakens the storm.
- Eight-player co-op, with room codes, a public browser, Steam invites, LAN, passwords, relay fallback, and host-owned saves.
- Farming, with planting pots, twelve crops, rain watering, and meal recipes.
- Cataclysm and Horde modes, both with leaderboards and cross-run progression for Horde.
- Voxel building, new vehicles, a tutorial, and the character/world save split.
The Far Island guide→ covers the route; the ending walkthrough→ covers Area 61.
1.0.4 — 6 November 2026
The first hotfix focused on co-op and the new building system:
- Added a mode filter (Standard, Horde, Cataclysm) and extra options to the co-op room list.
- Fixed the browser showing only a small number of rooms.
- Improved loading speed.
- Fixed a bug where a character loaded with only a head accessory.
- Powered exoskeletons no longer count against carry weight and add 25 kg of armour capacity.
- Reduced the price of some sights.
- Fixed revival in water, an empty save list, voxel platform shadows, and a Chinese name typo on the Airbow.
If you played on launch day and saw a naked character or an empty room list, 1.0.4 is the fix.
1.0.5 — 7 November 2026
The second hotfix is the quality-of-life pass:
- Fixed co-op character progress rollback.
- Switched to a clearer vector font, with an option to return to the pixel font.
- Interaction improvements: R takes everything from a container, holding E picks up continuously, windows can be used from any position, Q opens and vaults through a window, cutting grass drops the whole pile, and bag-in-bag dragging works.
- Meal buffs: meat gives carry weight and melee damage, fish gives natural regeneration, soup gives health and warmth, spicy food gives movement speed, and egg dishes restore stamina. Freshly cooked meals have a prefix; cold meals last two-thirds as long.
- Supreme Intelligence changes: phase two fires a three-hit sonic wave, phase three cross-fires. The wreck can be looted after the kill, and the special equipment drop is per player in co-op. A previously killed boss can be compensated at the Computing Core.
- The Supreme Intelligence active skill is a 45-degree sonic cone, 20 metres, strong knockback and 1.5 seconds of stun. Bosses are immune. Cooldown 15 seconds.
- Voxel indoor detection: four walls, a roof, and a closed door count as indoors, so you stay dry.
- Building mode shows green, yellow, or red outlines for valid placement.
- Fixed the north-facing staircase.
The indoor rule is the one that changes base design. A roofed room with a closed door now keeps rain off, which matters for cooking, sleeping, and any station that dislikes weather.
1.0.8 and the known-issues list
The developer's 7 November note says 1.0.8 is coming. The same note documents the room-code field bug: digits are entered but not displayed. Type the six characters and press Join; if the room has a password, enter the password first. The multiplayer guide→ repeats the workaround because it is the most common co-op question right now.
No release date for 1.0.8 has been announced. Treat any date you see on a video or a repost as speculation unless it comes from the Steam news hub.
The roadmap
The public roadmap posted on 30 September 2026 lists:
- Pets — taming, equipment, and skills. Dogs are already in the game; the roadmap item is broader.
- Tower defense — a dedicated mode or base layer, separate from Horde.
- Giant lizard boss — the Giant Mutant Lizard exists as a world encounter; the roadmap points to a fuller boss treatment.
- Building, skill, and companion improvements — iterating on the 1.0 systems.
- Multiplayer improvements — stability, browser, and session tools.
- Farming — shipped in 1.0, but likely to receive more crops and recipes.
- Survival mode — a mode beyond Standard and Cataclysm.
- New island — more map space beyond Far Island.
Roadmaps are intentions, not commitments. The 1.0 launch shipped several items that were on the roadmap (farming, the new island, multiplayer work), which is a good sign, but the order can change.
How to check your build
The main menu shows the version number in a corner. The Steam client also shows the installed build in the game's properties. If a fix described here is missing, update the game before you report a bug.
For co-op, everyone should be on the same build. A host on 1.0.5 and a guest on 1.0.0 can fail to see each other's rooms, and the error looks like a network problem.
What to expect next
The pattern from the first week is: hotfix, hotfix, slightly larger patch. The 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 notes are short and specific, which suggests the developer is prioritising crashes, co-op rollback, and interaction friction over new content.
If you are starting now, do not wait for 1.0.8. The current build is playable, the known bugs have workarounds, and the save split means a patch is unlikely to wipe your character. Back up before you update, as you should before any patch.
